FLAMINGO BAR
figurentheater tübingen, Frank Soehnle,

FLAMINGO BAR was the sensation of the Jim Henson Festival in New York 1999.
The stage is filled with birdlike creatures reminding one of Giacometti's figures, manipulated brilliantly by Frank Soehnle, who performs in full view. The fascinating elongated limbs, the excessive danse movements of the string puppets carry you off into a realm of spontaneity and improvisation, which does not follow any narrative logic. Images emerge, floating by as in a daydream, impressions of figures in the dim light of a night club, which seem to move in a surealistic element.
A scenic mosaic is created between variety, show, dance and puppet theatre. The music of "rat'nX" leads through the performance, its rhythm controls the length of the sequences, its timing is the beat of the phantastic string puppets.

Frank Soehnle studied as one of the first students at the Figurentheaterschule of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Stuttgart, founded by Albrecht Roser in 83. 1987 - 90 he directed the puppet theatre Karlsruhe, and founded 1991 the figurentheater tübingen. He teaches in many schools for puppetry, directs many shows and travels in Europe, Israel, Mexico, Asia and USA with his numerous productions.
