"Metamorphosen"
Theater MESCHUGGE, Ilka Schönbein

The genuine misery, the absurd wretchedness of Jewish Ghettos, the flare-up of life permanently threatened, grey walls of everyday unbearableness outline the themes of "Metamorphosen".
The incredible transformation performance of the mime, dancer and puppeteer Ilka Schönbein creates unforgettable expressionistic images of despair, of joie de vivre, of the painful concurrence of life and death like a metapher for our own existence.

Ilka Schönbein studied to perform with masks and puppets under the direction of Albrecht Roser in his productions DON JUAN and the FROG PRINCE. This complemented her profession as a dancer of Eurythmie. Driven by her strong theatrical impulse, she started to perform in market squares, on street corners - many years in France. She was discovered by the Mimos-Festival organisation in Perigueux in 1997 and received the Mimos Prize for excellency.
